You can bond with your little ones this weekend over a series of parent-child activities, such as storytelling sessions, craft activities, music, and dance sessions at The Artground. Little ones will be able to get their hands on handheld instruments, listen to the fascinating tales of Little Hanuman – the monkey-faced god from Hindu mythology, create their own pencil case using scraps, and much more!
Prior registration is not required for these activities and are on a first-come-first-serve basis, unless otherwise stated.
Don’t worry if the spaces are filled up, you can instead check out the new interactive exhibit at their visual arts space—The Curious Sky – Galaxy Edition. Featuring elements from mission control stations to an overhanging view of the entire universe, it’s a whole another adventure!

3. Catch the Colorful Chingay Parade with Your Family!

Chingay 2020 is themed ‘Colours in Harmony’ to mark the 60 years of community building by the People’s Association in 2020. You can expect to see an eye-catching showcase of different colors, symbolizing Singapore’s cultural diversity, at the iconic parade, which will be bringing you a stunning display of lights, lasers, pyrotechnics and fireworks as well as an array of multi-ethnic cultural performances by both local and international talents.
Also, the Chingay Parade will be making an appearance on 2 Feb 2020, Sunday, at Chinatown, where you can catch nine beautifully decorated floats alongside special performances by local and overseas performers for free!
4. Usher in the Year of Rat with Your Tots at the Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2020!

Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall’s Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2020 has a line-up of family-friendly activities, ranging from auspicious lion and dragon dance performances to Chinese painting and drumming workshops and craft activities for your little ones!
You can also join in the Memorial Hall’s signature mass lohei, get your zodiac predictions for the new year, and immerse yourself in an evening concert of contemporary and traditional performing arts.
Additionally, there will also be an outdoor installation, Lunar Guardians, produced by Hong Kong collectible label, BigBoysToys, in collaboration with the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, that pays homage to the ancient Chinese art of lion dance. Featuring two lion-dance-inspired sculptures in the ‘mecha’ anime style, the installation juxtaposes tradition with modernity, encouraging conversations about the evolutions in this rapidly changing world.
The installation will be on display from 4 Jan to 9 Feb 2020 on the lawn of the memorial hall.

5. Liven Up Your Lunar New Year Celebrations at River Hongbao 2020!

If you want to liven up your Lunar New Year celebrations, bring your little ones down to River Hongbao 2020, an annual affair celebrating all things Chinese! The myriad of intricate handmade lanterns, including one towering at 18 m height, are hard to miss. From a dazzling walkway inspired by tropical trees to lanterns with swimming goldfishes, spewing bubbles, the lanterns are a sight to behold!
You can also look forward to stage performances by local artistes like Zoe Tay and Desmond Tan as well as overseas troupes like the Shandong Song and Dance Theatre. Explore the interactive exhibits, keep your little ones (and yourself) entertained with over 20 carnival rides and games, and feast your taste buds on local traditional bites from different major dialect groups in Singapore (available on 29 Jan – 30 Jan 2020).
