If you’re the kind of the person to stay away from museums because they’re “boring”, we think you’ll be rethinking that thought after visiting these 4 museums in Johor.
1. Johor Bahru Chinese Heritage Museum

Travel through the lives of 18th to 19th century Chinese immigrants at the Johor Bahru Chinese Heritage Museum. Housed within its four-story building, fascinating artefacts brought in by Chinese traders such as porcelain, musical instruments, old coins, photos, and documents, provide an insight into the history of early Chinese settlers.
The ground floor is free for all while a ticket is required to enter the other floors.
2. Pasir Gudang Kite Museum (Muzium Layang-Layang Pasir Gudang)

Kites of different colors. Kites of different sizes. Kites of different designs. Kites kites kites, everywhere you turn you’ll bump into kites at the Pasir Gudang Kite Museum. In addition to a vivid display of kites, you’ll also be able to discover more about the cultural and historical appearances of kites across the world at the museum. Fun fact. Did you know that aside from being used as a form of entertainment, kites are also used in certain religious ceremonies in some parts of the world?
3. Johor Bahru Kwong Siew Heritage Gallery

Once the headquarters of the Kwong Siew Clan Association, established in 1878, now the building serves as a record of the Teo Chew immigrants’ transition to settlers in Malaysia. The artefacts on display at the Johor Bahru Kwong Siew Heritage Gallery, ranging from musical instruments and Chinese opera costumes, to working tools, weapons, opium pipes and ancestry photos, paints a vivid image of their lives in Johor Bahru.
4. Johor Pineapple Museum (Muzium Nanas Negeri Johor) [Temporarily Closed]

Nope, you won’t be staring at pictures of pineapples at the Johor Pineapple Museum. Instead, you’ll get to discover the different types of pineapples, the lifecycle of the tropical fruit, and the steps involved from planting the pineapple plant to processing the pineapple fruit.
Apparently, pineapple fruits to be canned, freshly consumed or used for ornamental purposes are all actually planted separately and this can be seen in the plantation outside the museum.
After your tour, you can even buy home goodies made out of the sweet fruit like pineapple juice, pineapple jam and so on!
