1. Muar
Muar, also known as Bandar Maharani, meaning Town of the Empress in Malay, is rich in history. It’s streets are lined with historical buildings and tombs like the Kota Buruk where Parameswara, the founder of Malacca Sultanate stayed during his exile, and Panglima Lidah Hitam Mausoleum, the grave of the legendary Black Tongue Warrior.

2. Yong Peng
Yong Peng, a town in Batu Pahat district, is famous for its Fuzhou-style cuisine. You can try out fares like succulent fishballs filled with pork, HockChew noodles or Yong Peng Bread, or give them all the taste. Once your tummies are full, you can go for a walk around the town to marvel at ornate temples and go on farm tours.
3. Kota Tinggi
Beautiful cascading waterfalls, white sandy beach, flashing and flittering fireflies and calm-inducing paddy fields, Kota Tinggi is your district if you want to go on a nature escapade. Kota Tinggi also houses several historically-significant royal tombs, around where you’ll find stone walls that might have been a palace many years ago. A touch of history mystery for your exploit.
4. Johor Bahru
Capital of Johor, Johor Bahru is more than a shopper’s paradise and a food heaven. Johor Bahru is also where you’ll find some of the most aesthetically pleasing buildings, from the Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple to the Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque. With a line-up of theme parks like LEGOLAND® and Hello Kitty Town, it’s a district that’s sure to be a hit with the little ones.
5. Kukup
A small fishing village with kelongs and houses built on stilts, Kukup may not seem like your typical idea of fun. And it isn’t. At Kukup, you can power down with the simpler pleasures of life like fishing, traversing a forest full of mangroves, and following the trails of mudskippers and crabs on mudflats.
