The National Day Parade is back and we can expect lots of events and deals happening to celebrate the nation's birthday!

The National Day Parade will be happening on Wednesday, 9 Aug 2023 with official NDP heartland activities happening across the weekend. Families can also expect fireworks around the heartlands, as well as at the Marina Bay area (families can also catch the fireworks during the rehearsal dates before the actual day).

Not just the official activities, there will also be lots of National Day events and deals available for families to have fun at. In addition, here's a list of the most family-friendly deals from the official NDP Coupons and a summary of all-things National Day!

1. Five National Day Heartland Celebrations

Venue: Tampines, Bedok, Jurong West, Toa Payoh and Woodlands
Dates: 5 - 6 Aug 2022
Admission: Free (tickets required)

This year's Heartland Celebration is done in collaboration with SportsSG. Called the GetActive! Singapore Heartland Festivals, the 2-day celebrations from 5 to 6 Aug will feature family-friendly activities such as sport tryouts, live performances and more at these 5 venues!

Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents are eligible to apply for e-tickets to GetActive! Singapore Heartland Festivals. Limited physical tickets are also available for collection at various SAFRA clubs. Application for tickets can be done via online application via the NDP website from 15 July onwards.

You can also catch the fireworks display at all five sites on 9 Aug, and catch the island flypast across Singapore. 

2. Gardens by the Bay x Mediacorp National Day Concert

Venue: The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay
Dates: 5 Aug 2023, 7.30 pm - 9 pm (concert)
Admission: Free

For the first time in four years, the Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert returns to a full-scale extravaganza on 5 August at The Meadow, the Gardens’ largest event venue. Occupying a space of 22,000 square metres, the size of about three football fields, this free concert aims to bring different communities together to celebrate Singapore’s 58th birthday with mesmerising performances by multicultural local talents.

Concert goers looking to start their day early can also head down with their picnic mats and join the pre-event festivities. These include a carnival with free family-friendly activities and photo-worthy spots, featuring inflatables of well-known Singapore landmarks such as the iconic dragon playground, giveaways of plants grown in Gardens by the Bay, a pet’s walk programme, and distribution of old-school snacks such as kacang putih to bring communities together as they celebrate the nation’s birthday. 

Into its fifth edition, this concert will also feature an inaugural fireworks display that will illuminate the night sky at Gardens by the Bay in a myriad of colours.

3. Catch the RSAF Island Flypast

Dates: 29 Jul and 9 Aug, 5.30 pm - 6.30 pm

As part of the Fly Our Flag segment, the state flag will be flown on two routes around the island. And just for RSAF55, an RSAF55 Island Flypast of 10 aircraft will make their way through the heartlands as well! Find out which assets you’ll be able to wave to and where to catch them on 29 Jul and 9 Aug! 

Try spotting the State Flag carried by the Chinook Helicopter with a pair of Apache helicopters and specially for the RSAF55 celebrations, families will get a view of the A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport with 6 F-16D and 3 F-15SG fighter aircrafts. 

4. Grab a Meal and Fireworks at the Same Time

Maybe you like to catch the fireworks in person or maybe you like to have a good feast over the holiday. Regardless of your preference, check out this list of restaurants offering National Day menus and some even having a great view of the fireworks at Marina Bay!   

5. Celebrate National Day At Downtown East

6. Create Your Own National Day Merlion Latte

Looking for a Uniquely Singaporean family bonding activity for the National Day Celebrations? Join The Coffee Roaster in this Merlion Latte Workshop where you and your little ones will take part in National Day-themed activities and games before creating your very own Merlion Latte Art and assemble the Kopi of your choice! There will also be a mini quiz to test your family's knowledge of Singapore too!

7. IMDA's NDP Digital Fun Pack

IMDA launched the First-Ever NDP Digital Play Pack, dedicated to celebrating Singapore's 58th National Day by enabling Singaporeans to experience a digital side of the National Day Parade (NDP).

The mobile application features the use of Augmented Reality (AR) and will bring the fun digitally to Singaporeans from all walks of life where they can “dress up” and take digital photos, “visit” and even “redesign” iconic locations from the past and enjoy a digitally enhanced parade from the comfort of their home through the AR function of the mobile application.

8. Celebrate National Day at City Square Mall

To celebrate the nation’s 58th birthday, City Square Mall is having events and activities revolving around food! This includes the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre's (SCCC) travelling exhibition on local dishes. This unique exhibition showcases the cultural “ingredients” that led to the development of a distinctive Chinese Singaporean culture through a contemporary display of eight local dishes.

Families can also look forward to the Sedap Singapoe Food Fair where there will also be an exciting lineup of food booths featuring a selection of snacks and delights with local flavours. White Rabbit will also be setting up a pop-up booth at City Square Mall, where you will be able to get your hands on these nostalgic childhood favourite candies in assorted flavours (original, coffee, mustard, plum, red bean, yoghurt)!

9. National Museum of Singapore Facade Light-up

As part of the National Museum’s National Day Celebrations, snippets froma  commissioned new short film, LKY100: The Life and Legacy of Lee Kuan Yew (1923–2015) will be adapted into the museum’s National Day façade light-up for all to enjoy from 21 July to 9 August 2023, 7.30pm to 12 midnight. 

To watch the full 5-min short film, visitors can visit the Singapore History Gallery within the museum. 

10. FairPrice on Wheels National Day Block Parties

In celebration of Singapore's 58th birthday, FairPrice Group will be bringing block parties to two heartland locations Ang Mo Kio and Jurong West on 5 August 2023. Both block parties, hosted from FPG’s roving FairPrice on Wheels trucks, will pay homage to local flavours and nostalgic experiences.

Ang Mo Kio and Jurong residents, along with visitors, can look forward to specially curated carnival-like game booths and food stalls showcasing FPG’s own brands and Made in Singapore brand products.

Come and enjoy popular snacks such as FairPrice potato chips, coconut water, and mixed nuts! A special tote bag will also be given away to shoppers who make purchases above $10 at the FairPrice on Wheels Truck, available at the block parties only.

11. MAJULAH FIESTA 2023 at Singapore Sports Hub

Majulah Fiesta finale which takes place on National Day caps off 12 days of exciting sports, games and competitions that kicked-off on 29 July with the launch of Majulah Fiesta 2023, as part of the annual GetActive! Singapore. Activities not to be missed include the Lion City Dance Convention and YouthCreates Ramp It Up Competition. 

Come 9 August, everyone is invited to our party. It will be a full day of activities and entertainment as we celebrate the nation’s 58th birthday together. There will be a live screening of the National Day Parade (NDP), display of the National Flag on the National Stadium roof and awesome fireworks. There is no better way to spend this jubilant occasion than with your loved ones here at the Singapore Sports Hub!

12. Chic and Proud: National Day Open House at ACM

Venue: Asian Civilisation Museum

On 9 August, ACM warmly invites visitors to join us at Chic and Proud: National Day Open House where they can redeem their very own Barbie and special Barbie accessories from Mattel to transform into extraordinary Andrew Gn-inspired outfits. To complete the experience, they stand a chance to win lucky draws for custom AGN merchandise and enjoy sweet treats with ice cream giveaways at the museum.

Journeying across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond, the special exhibition presents over 100 representative works exploring Gn’s roots in Asia and celebrates his distinctive aesthetics, craftsmanship, and global impact. At the heart of this exhibition is the story of  a Singaporean talent and his achievements on the international stage. It also draws parallels to Singapore’s strong port city heritage as a hub of global cross-cultural exchanges, which is championed across the works on display at the exhibition.

13. National Day Themed Chinese Storymaking & Ceramic Painting Workshop

14. National Day Light-Up 2023

Venue: Various arts and cultural landmarks in the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct
Dates: 1 – 26 August 2023 (National Museum of Singapore light-up: Until 9 August 2023), 7.30pm – 12am daily
Admission: Free

Join the National Heritage Board as they celebrate our nation's 58th birthday with the illumination of six historical and culturally significant landmarks around the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct, and watch them light up in the National Flag colours of red and white. 

For this year's edition, Children’s Museum Singapore, Fort Canning Centre, Maghain Aboth Synagogue, National Museum of Singapore, St Joseph’s Church and The Peranakan Museum will join the tribute for the light-up. These landmarks – four of which are National Monuments – take you on a journey through our shared heritage that reminds us of our national identity, bonding the generations of the past, present and future. The swashes of red and white lights are an expression of our creative responses to our current times, an articulation of our dreams and aspirations, and at the same time, remind us that our future paths are our own to blaze!

15. 17th National Day Sing-Along at Toa Payoh Hub

Back in its 17th edition, this year’s National Day Sing-Along will be carried out under three thematic segments namely the history of Singapore (accompanied by sand painting), xinyao tunes unique to Singapore and lastly, uplifting songs to end on a high note. The choir is led by The A Cappella Society’s Children’s Pop Choir & Youth Voices, with children and youth with special needs from Extra·Ordinary People. These inspiring individuals will be delivering moving renditions of the National Day songs we all know and love. 

On top of that, performances of crowd-favourite local tunes by homegrown music artists and SG:SW I Write My Song Ambassador Yokez 叶玉, and winners of its past instalments Elton LeeMorgan Law, and Yohannis Kasmani will also add to the celebratory atmosphere in the heartlands ahead of National Day. The event will be hosted by Mediacorp LOVE 972 DJ Chua Leelian, Mediacorp YES 933 DJ Zhong Kun Hua.

This event is jointly organised by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations.

16. SingNation! at Capitol Singapore

Admission: Free

SingNation! is set to make its highly anticipated return this year as Singapore's grandest outdoor choir for National Day at Capitol Singapore’s Outdoor Plaza, welcoming up to 1,000 members of Voices of Singapore from all walks of life and backgrounds and inviting members of the public to join as well. The choir will take place this coming Saturday, 5 August 2023, 6 – 7pm.

Adding to the excitement, local band The Passerby will captivate the audience with live renditions of national songs as well as beloved local hits. 

Families can also catch the Live screening of the National Day Parade on 9 August, at Capitol Singapore.

17. National Day Celebrations at the PAssionArts Festival

Dates: Between 5 - 9 Aug 2023

Gather your loved ones for a jam-packed National Day celebration at our art villages organised by Community Arts & Culture Clubs (CACCs) across the island for the PAssionArts Festival! From hands-on art activities to captivating live performances, there’s a diverse range of activities for everyone to get into the National Day mood.

Ignite your imagination at the Pasir Ris Central, East & West PAssionArts Festival (5 August) for a day of creativity!  Try out a diverse range of art activities, such as doodling on houses made of cardboard, pebbles painting, bookmark making and tote bag painting and immerse in the electrifying performances by talented local band and Kompang Interest Group. 

Witness the incredible talents of performers at the Jalan Kayu & Fernvale PAssionArts Festival @ Heartlands Music Festival (5 August) at Fernvale Community Club. Be serenaded by the talents of various performing art groups, from primary schools to the Institute of Higher Learning (IHLs)! In between performances, have a go at creating artwork with the interactive art booths!

Get crafty at Bukit Batok PAssionArts Festival (9 August) with an array of hands-on art booths and stage performances! Create your own coaster to bring home a piece of memory. What’s more, you can marvel at the Weave & Patch art installation that is created by residents using textiles, strings and other recyclable materials.

At the PAssionArts Festival @ Kebun Baru (9 August), you're in for a treat! The art village at Mayflower Mall will showcase a breathtaking landscape featuring a majestic Merlion Art Installation. Created entirely with recycled materials, this magnificent artwork will have flowers serving as the spouting water of the Merlion, symbolizing growth and blossoming creativity.

18. Embrace the National Day Spirit with Sentosa Musical Fountain at Central Beach Bazaar

Bring out your inner patriot this National Day with a celebration of spectacular visuals and music at Sentosa Musical Fountain! A perfect spot for families to come together and rejoice in the spirit of Singapore's 58th birthday, the Sentosa Musical Fountain will be playing a medley of iconic National Day songs from years past. 

With free admission for a limited time only, marvel at the mesmerising choreography of synchronised water jets gracefully dancing to an eclectic selection of soundtracks. The 5-minute show will play a medley of three popular theme songs that were specially created to commemorate Singapore’s birthday on 9th August, which each Singaporean might know by heart.
