Although Gateway Theatre has not opened yet, little ones can continue to immerse themselves in fascinating tales as the Gateway Theatre continues to broadcast their storytelling sessions online. The sessions will premier every Saturday at 11 am via a private link. To receive the link, you have to join their mailing list.
This month, the storytelling sessions will revolve around the theme of local folk tales starting with the tale of Nadim and the Killer Swordfish this week. The story follows the adventures of local boy Nadim who has thought of a clever plan to protect his fellow villagers from the attacking swordfish. Whether he succeeds, forms the crux of the story.
2. Zoom into History with the National Museum of Singapore

Zoom into History is the National Museum of Singapore’s new way of letting you engage with its permanent collection in the digital space. Several museum objects – voiced by local actors and comedians will be hosting live conversations and taking audiences on a journey back in time. You can speak to objects such as the National brand rice cooker and the Singapore Stone and be “zoomed” back in time as the objects highlight their place in Singapore’s history.
While the Zoom into History episodes are free, you are required to sign up for the session beforehand. If this interests you, you might want to sign up now as spaces are limited.
3. Drive-in Movie Screening at Downtown East

Downtown East is bringing retro back with a drive-in movie screening on 8 Aug 2020 at Begonia open-air Carpark. They will be showcasing the award-winning film The Greatest Showman. While tickets have sold out online, event day walk-ins are open, subject to availability, although this option does not come with food or drinks.

4. Saturdays@ACM: Shining, Shimmering, Splendid

The Singapore Science Festival, an annual event celebrating all things science, technology, engineering and mathematics, is going fully digital this year! You can expect over 30 interactive activities and events.
