"Future World: Where Art Meets Science" exhibit at ArtScience Museum

Replacing the previous Park and Sanctuary sections of the exhibit, Future World, is a new gallery, Exploring New Frontiers, with 4 interactive installations for families to experience a brand-new experience when visiting the museum.

The exhibit begins with an immersive and mesmerising journey through City in A Garden that takes inspiration from Singapore before continuing to Exploring New Frontiers

Autonomous Abstraction, Continuous Phenomena from the Universe to the Self

The new installation, Autonomous Abstraction, Continuous Phenomena from the Universe to the Self, explores the phenomenon of self-organisation or spontaneous order. Self-organisation occurs in the universe when different natural rhythms influence each other and slowly synchronize.

You will find colourful flicker of lights on the wall which you can interact with. Touching them causes the light to disperse, change colour, and re-organise themselves.

Aerial Climbing through a Flock of Colored Birds

Moving into the exhibition, you will find the second installation, Aerial Climbing Through a Flock of Colored Birds, an interactive artwork created from horizontal bars of varying colours, projection, coloured light and sound. Suspended by rope, the bars appear to float in space.

Families can use these bars to navigate carefully through the artwork. The bars are linked, so every movement will affect others bars and also the people who are standing on them. Surrounding the bars are patterns of light and colour as well as flocks of birds projected on the floor and wall - create different patterns of light, colour, and sound (as well as the colour of the birds) as you move through the artwork.

Note: There is a height requirement of at least 1.20m in height in order to enjoy the artwork Aerial Climbing Through A Flock of Colored Birds. Covered shoes are required at all times and no flip flops or high heels are permitted.

Sketch Flight

The 3rd installation, Sketch Flight, might seem familiar to those who have visited before. Similar as the previous installations, you can colour and post your drawings on an interactive wall.

In this edition, you can colour your aeroplane, butterfly, or hawk on the paper provided and see the picture you have drawn appear flying through the world on the giant screen in front of you. What's different this time is that you can use a tablet device to control the flight of your aeroplane, butterfly, or hawk. Look at the tablet device screen and you can even see the world from the point of view of the animal or plane that you drew (and what you see will differ according to what you have chosen to colour).

Crystal Universe

Lastly, you will find Crystal Universe, where a seemingly infinite number of light points inside the scintillating Crystal Universe bringing you into an illusion of stars moving in space.

Change the fabric of the universe with the smart devices within the installation.
