The new Science Centre Singapore will have a Children’s Gallery with its own interactive outdoor water-play area and discovery trails in the secondary forest.

Venue: Jurong Lake Garden, next to Chinese Garden MRT Station
Opening Hours: TBC

Replacing the current Science Centre Singapore that opened in 1977, the new Science Centre Singapore will open in 2027, marking the centre's 50th anniversary.

An Attraction In The West

The new building will be located next to Chinese Garden MRT Station and will be part of a 7ha integrated tourism development that will include other attractions, restaurants and hotels.

The new centre will have waterfront views with large glass window openings offering a scenic view of the lake. The building will consist of five interlocking rectangular blocks that appears to float above the lake. It will also be surrounded by outdoor gardens and courtyards.

Emphasis on Parental Involvement

The centre will have a dedicated Children’s Gallery that will be twice the size of KidsStop, the current kids zone. It will include its own interactive outdoor water-play area, discovery trails in a secondary forest and roof garden sensory trail! The centre will put greater emphasis on facilitating parental involvement in children’s learning experiences, allowing families to discover and learn together.

Families can also look forward to a new observatory to learn about astronomical events as well as specially curated night programmes too.

Hands-on Learning

The new Science Centre will act as a large, interactive STEM classroom with specialised laboratories and workshops that encourage hands-on learning of scientific concepts.

Planned spaces include the Eco-Lab, Digital Fabrication Lab and a Makerspace.

Engaging the Community

The new Science Centre will boast an outdoor activity plaza where community programmes and other STEM-related programmes can be held for the community.

Opening Timeline

The new Science Centre Singapore is expected to open in 2027 to mark its 50th anniversary.

More details will be added once available.
