Active Health gave away a free play mat earlier this yea to every household, and is doing another giveaway due to the overwhelming response! Limited to the first 28,000 sign-ups, the play mats are meant to encourage families to start their health and wellness journey through bonding activities with family and friends!
What Is The Play Mat?
The Play Mat is a multi-purpose mat which allows you to assess, step and play for fitness, anytime, anywhere. It is a mat to facilitate bonding with friends and families through active activities! There are 3 stated use of the mats.
- Access For Fitness: You can do simple assessments to test your balance, flexibility and muscular endurance - make it fun by competing with your kids too!
- Step For Fitness: Use the mat for fun activities involving memory and movement, which helps improve sensorimotor skills and cognition, and reduce fall-related injuries. Perhaps something to encourage grandpa and grandma to take part together too!
- Play For Fitness: It also includes a great game to strengthen family bonding through fun and strength-related exercises.
Who Is Active Health?
Active Health is a social movement under Sport Singapore. They encourage everyone to proactively own their own health and well-being!
They manage 8 Active Health Labs located island-wide with professional Active Health Coaches, an Active Health app to help track your progress, fun and educational workshops, workouts and interest groups. They aim to make it easier for the public to live life to the fullest!
How To Get Your Free Play Mat?
The Play Mat is not ready for collection yet. Interested families can register on Active Health, and collection details will be shared via email nearer to the collection date.
Do note that each household is limited to 1 mat only.
We Collected Ours In The First Collection
We had the play mat for awhile. The collection process was relatively simple, just bring your collection email to the collection centre to collect - bring along your ID for verification. You can also collect on behalf, but need to at least bring a picture of the ID.
We played it a couple of times with the kids, and even had grandma and grandpa join in the fun too. The game we played is the "Sport and Ladder" where you are the pieces and you need to complete simple exercises when you land on the boxes.
*Note that the mat is quite big and you will need some space to open it up.
