Downtown East's Space Odyssey Christmas brings an array of specially curated programmes to keep everyone enthralled!

NTUC Club is pulling out all the stops this festive season in Downtown East with the Space Odyssey Christmas, a slew of fun and exciting programmes to appeal to a wider audience of different interests.

Here's taking a closer look at what you and your family can look forward to at what's possibly the biggest festive celebration in the heartland!

SPACE OUT! Art Installations

For starters, the one-of-its-kind and must-see "intergalactic” SPACE OUT! exhibition — which takes place in three locations at Downtown East — lets one step into a completely new universe.

In this awe-inspiring presentation, a group of 10 local and international artists will display their uber cool VR artworks using virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) as well as interactive light projection.

SPACE OUT! is presented by Downtown East, supported by the National Arts Council and produced by GOF-Y. Free entry.

Virtual Reality (VR) Pods: Journey Beyond Limits

Venue: Level 2, Event Square
Date: 4 Nov 2022 to 2 Jan 2023
Fee: Free Admission

Check out the never-before-seen VR painting artworks by local artists Christine Lok, Fauxe, ScRach MarcS, tobyato and YANGERMEISTER, as well as breathtaking 360° outer space videos by SpaceCinema.

Visitors will also get the chance to create their own VR paintings — with the world as their canvas and their imagination as their palette.

Augmented Reality (AR): First Universion

Venue: Level 1, next to Sun Paradise
Date: 4 Nov 2022 to 15 Jan 2023
Fee: Free Admission

If you could create your own planet, what would it look like? Visual artist Joy Ha imagines a world of cosmic living where adorable alien inhabitants, blobians, roam free and imitating planet Earth and the human spices.

Visitors can follow the tour led by one of the blobians when they bring the artwork to life with AR.

Outdoor Interactive Light Projection: Space Odyssey

Venue: Open Plaza 2 (Outside D’ Marquee)
Date: 21 Nov 2022 to 2 Jan 2023
Time: 7.30pm to 10.30pm
Fee: Free Admission

The titular Space Odyssey by HOLOGRIX is an awesome outdoor light installation using video projection. It transports you to the surface of Mars and the Moon, where you can touch the stars, move planets with your hands, and see our home, the Earth, in all its glory. It is inspired by the science fiction notion of the metaverse; an immersive virtual world that is facilitated using VR and AR — and its real-world possibilities of transporting people to different realms.

Mega Carnival

Let's Play@ D'Marquee!

Venue: D’ Marquee | Open Plaza 1
Date: 19 Nov 2022 to 5 Feb 2023
Time: 12pm to 9pm (Weekday) | 10am to 9.30pm (Weekend, School Holiday, PH & Eve of PH)

Bring your little ones for a jurassic adventure! Get on dinosaur rides, viking rides, interactive dinosaur ball pits and sandpits, merry-go rounds, and more. The star of the show - a majestic 4-m tall and 10-m long animatronic dinosaur (right) - will awe visitors. Check out the eye-catching inflatables for kids to run on and bounce around.

Adrenaline junkies can initiate a challenge with family or friends at four VR stations with different games. Pick your rush: a high intensity shooting game; space ventures in a spaceship; ski down from the world's highest peaks; and an exhilarating motorbike obstacle ride.

Let's Makan & Chill
