Situated by the waterfront of Marina Bay, Marina Central District is located at the heart of Marina Centre within Singapore’s downtown core. Here's a series of art installations, workshops and more that you and your family can look forward to when visiting the district!

Venue: Millenia Walk
Date:
 25 May to 20 Jul 2022

The installation which first made its debut at the prestigious Venice Biennale in 2018 is now reimagined as four illuminating cubes — representing Marina Square, Millenia Walk, South Beach and Suntec City — that explore the way light can be used to affect our perception.

An intricate crystal lattice is artfully assembled out of more than 1,200 four-point-knots to channel light and create an illusory world of reflections and colour as it responds to human presence and gestures, transforming and taking on new forms with each movement they make.

Body, Heart & Soul first launched in March, at its first stop, Marina Square. Themed Body at Play, the interactive placemaking experience which included two AR shadowplay workshops.

From 25 May to 20 July 2022, Body, Heart & Soul will be transformed and transported to Millenia Walk with the theme – Heartfelt. Four interactive and luminous cubes will simulate a beating heart at Millenia Walk. The AI-powered installation will identify visitors at installation and ignite light pulses radiating throughout the installation in a meditative rhythm, humanising and bringing 'life' to technology.

Date:
 4 Jun & 2 Jul 2022

Visitors can also gain new insights into the world of technology by attending the Heart of Computing workshop running on 4 June and 2 July 2022, led by Dr Jason Lim and Tinkertanker.

Participants will be taught the basics of constructing an electronic circuit and composing a computer program for light animation, so they can express their creativity using technology.

South Beach

[Art Installation] Body, Heart & Soul: In the Mood

Venue: South Beach
Date: Jul 2022

In July, the installation will arrive at South Beach themed In the Mood. The installation will take on an audiovisual format and be displayed across the open air plaza to allow visitors a more intimate and multi-sensory experience as they respond to audio cues to effect change in the illuminating cubes.

[Workshop] Origami Upcycling

Venue: South Beach
Date: Jul 2022

Carrying forward Body, Heart & Soul’s sustainable initiative, and in a bid to normalise sustainable design in our everyday lives, visitors can also sign up for the Origami Upcycling workshop and learn to turn used paper products into beautiful Origami art.

Suntec City

[Art Installation] Body, Heart & Soul: Collective Soul

Venue: Suntec City
Date: mid Sep 2022

The installation makes its final stop at Suntec City in mid-September 2022 with the theme Collective Soul. Visitors will be enthralled by synchronised displays of light designed to accentuate vibrancy.

Visitors will also be encouraged to make their mark on the installation with their Instagram photos by tagging @marinacentralsg. The collage of photos contributed by visitors will aptly epitomise the ‘Collective Soul’ of Marina Central district’s Body, Heart & Soul.

[Workshop] Second-Life Electronics

Venue: Suntec City
Date: mid Sep 2022

Adding to the experience and in line with the district’s aim of ‘galvanising sustainability’, the Second-life Electronics workshop seeks to impart vital skills of transforming used electronics into art and breathe new life into electronic junk, thereby saving them from landfills.
