Enabling Lives Festival 2022

The Enabling Lives Festival 2022 returns with physical celebrations from 1 to 4 December 2022 in conjunction with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

A signature event organised by SG Enable, the Enabling Lives Festival provides an opportunity for persons with disabilities, caregivers, and the public to connect, collaborate and celebrate together through a myriad of activities happening across four days. Spend a meaningful weekend to get your holiday gifts, learn a skill or just have fun while pledging your support for an inclusive Singapore.

Here's taking a closer look at what you and your family can expect at the Enabling Lives Festival 2022:

Family-Friendly Workshops (Co-facilitated by Persons with Disabilities)

Terrazzo Coaster by TOUCH Centre for Independent Living

Venue: TOUCH Community Services @ Gateway Theatre, 3615 Jalan Bukit Merah, Singapore 159461
Date: 2 Dec 2022
Time: 10am to 12pm | 2pm to 4pm
Admission: $10

Participants will learn how to create their own handcrafted terrazzo coasters using a specially prepared mix and an array of techniques such as colour mixing, casting, and sanding. The sessions will be facilitated by crafters with intellectual disabilities.

A minimum of 10 participants is required to start a session.

Deaf Awareness with Basic Sign Language by TOUCH Silent Club

Venue: TOUCH Community Services @ Gateway Theatre, 3615 Jalan Bukit Merah, Singapore 159461

Time: 10am to 12pm | 2pm to 4pm
Admission: $5

Participants will pick up basic Singapore Sign Language and learn more about hearing loss and the deaf community. A deaf trainer will conduct the workshop with a hearing facilitator.

A minimum of 10 participants is required to start a session.

Nutty Christmas Bar & Personalised Brew Bag Workshop By Metta Café x Temasek Polytechnic

Venue: Enabling Village 20 Lengkok Bahru, Singapore 159053

Time: 10am to 12pm | 2pm to 4pm
Admission: $25

Led by apprentices with disabilities from Metta Café and Temasek Polytechnic, the Nutty Christmas Snack Bar and Brew Bag Workshop are sure to keep the season full of warmth! Participants of the workshop will learn how to make a healthy no-bake Christmas bar and a complementary brew bag.

Each session can accommodate up to 20 participants.

A6 Book Binding By SPD

Venue: Enabling Village 20 Lengkok Bahru, Singapore 159053
Date: 3 Dec 2022
Time: 10am to 12pm | 2pm to 4pm
Admission: $25

Learn the traditional art of book binding facilitated by SPD’s master craftsmen with decades of experience in the traditional art of book binding. Participants will learn how to make their own A6 hand-bound journal with coptic sewing from scratch.

A minimum of 10 participants is required to start a session, and each session can accommodate up to 15 participants. 

No Sew Festive Tote Workshop By SAVH x Temasek Polytechnic

Venue: Enabling Village 20 Lengkok Bahru, Singapore 159053

Time: 10am to 12pm | 2pm to 4pm
Admission: $20

Participants will create and decorate their very own festive tote using various folding and cutting techniques. No sewing is required.

Each session can accommodate up to 20 participants.

Participants will be guided by clients from the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) and students from Temasek Polytechnic.

Community Music Jamming

Venue: ART:DIS @ Bukit Merah Community Hub, 3779 Jalan Bukit Merah, #03-02 Community Hub, Singapore 159462

A one-of-a-kind music-making session where participants try their hand at playing a range of musical instruments and explore different harmonic arrangements, the session aims to delight every participant through an engaging and interactive learning environment.

Each session can accommodate up to 20 participants.

Facilitator: Peter Sau, Head of Artistic Development (Performing Arts), Disability arts specialist, artist-educator, producer, stage director and performer.

Co-Facilitators: Ivni and Wai Yee, musicians with visual impairment

Inclusive Hip-Hop Workshop

Venue: ART:DIS @ Bukit Merah Community Hub, 3779 Jalan Bukit Merah, #03-02 Community Hub, Singapore 159462

The Inclusive Hip-Hop Workshop is an introduction to hip-hop dance with an inclusive approach that is tailored to all. The session provides a structured method of learning various hip-hop movements in a funfilled and vibrant environment.

Utilising upbeat music, the outcome will be an engaging session that not only teaches hip-hop movements and techniques, but also improves social and cognitive skills, promotes physical movement and increases coordination, as well as trains creativity through free expression to music.

Inclusive Cajon Workshop

This workshop introduces participants to fundamental techniques of the Cajon, a hand-percussion instrument. Participants will learn to play basic simple rhythmic patterns and drumming variations in an ensemble group learning environment.

Landscape Acrylic Painting

Painting is a great way to de-stress and channel your negative thoughts into creative energy. Learn from ART:DIS’s professional artist, Eugene Soh, on how to create your own landscape painting with different acrylic painting techniques.

The workshop is structured to suit older children and adults.

Art Jamming & Christmas Ornament Making Workshop

Water Marbling Workshop

Stim Toy Making Workshop

This is a fun and accessible fringe activity for autistic and neurodivergent people of all ages, designed by ART:DIS Artist-inResidency Dr. Dawn-joy Leong. Participants will make personalised tactile objects for self-calming and sensory respite.

Enabling Village Open House Tours

Visitors will be able to tour Enabling Village and visit six key points of interest within the inclusive community space.

The tour will be led by SG Enable’s iChamps (inclusion champions), volunteers with disabilities who champion for disability inclusion, and Enabling Volunteers, passionate individuals who volunteer their time and efforts with SG Enable

Each walkabout of the Enabling Village will take approximately 1.5 hours. Each session can accommodate up to 20 participants. Registration is required.

“My Enabling Village” Art Exhibition

“My Enabling Village” Art Contest, which was held earlier this year, invited beneficiaries from Social Service Agencies and students of SPED schools to share their art impressions of Enabling Village. All submitted entries will be featured in an art exhibition for the public to enjoy.

i’mable Gift Market

The i’mable Gift Market by SG Enable is an initiative to promote and market original works, artisanal gifts, as well as premium items that showcase the artistry of talented persons with disabilities. Over 20 vendors from various non-profit, social and commercial enterprises as well as SG Enable’s i’mable Collective will offer merchandise and products ranging from festive gifts and bakes, to fashion, home, and living.

Mediacorp Celebrities Charity Fair

Head over to the Mediacorp Celebrities Charity Fair where you will get to meet your favourite Mediacorp personalities such as Elvin Ng, Romeo Tan, Desmond Tan, Hong Ling, Chantalle Ng, Tyler Ten, Jean Danker, Ravi G, Gunalan Morgan, and more while shopping for a good cause! Get your hands on pre-loved items such as apparel, eyewear and shoes, and brand-new handmade creations such as frames and flower arrangements contributed by the celebrities. You will also get the opportunity to watch Zhu Zeliang belt out his favourite songs and artistes draw intricate calligraphy, as well as savour delectable treats made with love by the celebrities!

All sales proceeds go towards the Mediacorp Enable Fund to support persons with disabilities.
